New year, new list

My loved ones have been so good about getting me things from my list -- which is, of course, the point. I must take this opportunity to point out, however, that I'm perfectly fine with getting absolutely nothing from anyone. I mean sure, who doesn't like getting gifts? But when it comes down to it, I'm richer than I could have ever possibly dreamed. I don't need anything. And anything I really want, I can get for myself. However, if you feel you must, here are some things I've had my eye on that I could wait and let you get for me:

More time
More time is always good. Anything you can do to save me time would be much appreciated.

Oscillating Lights Kit
Looking for something goofy and otherwise useless (so basically, exactly like me)? Here's something awesome, which I would probably take apart and install on the front of a bicycle: Larson Scanning Electronic Solder Kit.

Soldering Station

If I'm going to build the above (and any of 200 other evil-genius projects I have in mind), I really should get a decent soldering station, finally.

Books I haven't gotten yet

Magazines
Although I don't read them cover-to-cover like I used to anymore, I still really like getting a couple of magazines, even just to see what the newest trend is. Newest trend? So I'm obviously thinking something like People or US Weekly, right? Newsweek? Maxim?
Nope: either Discover or DirtRag. Yeah.

Dumbbells

I do have a gym membership again now, but it's still nice to have a set of freeweights. I don't need the 5-lb or 50-lb ones, though, and doubt I ever would. So I'd just like to get a pair each of 15-lb, 20-lb, and 25-lb weights. Problem is, the set of 6 is worth about $20 to me. But these places want to charge over a dollar a pound. That's over $120!!! I don't want anyone to spend that kind of cash on it or me. If you can find a set of these for $20 or so, make me feel special by spending very little on me.

DVDs.
I lost my copy of Star Trek (the most recent JJ Abrams version) (FOUND IT!), which I loved, and I'd like to own a copy of Rocky (the original) (Found it in a store for $10. Score!). NOT BLU-RAY. Nothing personal against the newest messiah format, but until my daily computer has a Blu-Ray player in it, it's just yet-another format I can't use anywhere I want.

Gift Cards
Not enough? Well, you can't go wrong with gift cards to either iTunes or Epic Bike and Sport.

Still Feel the Urge to Go Way Overboard?
I'd dearly love to have an iPad (32GB Wifi would be the best choice, at $599), but I wouldn't recommend it. That's the sort of thing one should try to get from their employer, if possible (way less personal risk), plus the thing's been out for almost a year now; it's almost time for them to release a new one with way more functionality at the same price and to totally dis owners of the (now-ancient) older model. Patience is a virtue.
That's about it. Just to reiterate; make me happiest by writing me a short note telling me you appreciate my friendship. If you must, buy something above. Thanks!

Updated List

Wow! My beautiful wife and wonderful family got me almost everything on my previous list, which is, I suppose, the point. So, it's time for me to update. If you're curious about my previous list, see the previous post.

Updated:

More time
More time is always good. Anything you can do to save me time would be much appreciated.
Books I haven't gotten yet

Surly Singlespeed-specific rear cog
Singlespeed cog to upgrade my singlespeed bike, 16-tooth. Yeah. Feel free to contact a local bike shop. Just tell them, "Singlespeed Cog, 16 tooth." They'll know what you mean.

RoadID
It's a bracelet that has your personal information, kind of like a medic alert thing, but for cyclists and other road-traveling adventure seekers, so in an emergency, folks can tell who I am and who they should contact. Of course, you'd have to consult with me so I could tell you what I want on it.

Renew my IMBA membership
In the crush of the holidays, gift-giving for others, paying for my ridiculously overpriced KU basketball tickets, and my pay cut with the new career, I had to sacrifice a few things that are otherwise important to me, and my IMBA membership was one of them.

Noise-Canceling Headphones
It's noisy when I mow. Chirping birds piss me off. And I'm kinda into the whole sensory deprivation thing. So I think I'd like to get a pair of noise-canceling headphones. These look like they might fit the bill, or at least be a good price to try out.

Soundtrack T-Shirt
This is quite possibly the coolest thing in the last decade. Behold:
Soundtrack T-Shirt.

Dumbbells

Since we don't have a gym membership anymore, I'd like to get a few freeweights.

ThinkGeek Slide Rule
I've always wanted a real slide rule and to learn how to use one. I have a "slide rule" but it's a specifically purposed one for natural gas line calculations. I want a general one. And believe it or not, ThinkGeek has come through. It's even on sale now!

DVDs
.
I'm pretty good with the DVDs at the moment. Here's one that's left, though:

Klunkerz, a history of mountain biking. Great vid, would love to have it in my collection. And to have you over to watch it with me.

Or, just ask me. I'm pretty talkative.

Thanks!

Gift-Giving Ideas

...or any gift-giving occasion, really. I want to make it easy for anyone wishing they could figure out something to get for me that I would appreciate. See, when some people are asked, "What do you want" for ChrismaHannuKwanzakah, they say, "Oh, I don't know," or "Oh, I don't need anything," or "Oh, I know exactly what I'd like to have, but I'm not going to tell you, because for one that would appear greedy on my part, and for two, I'd prefer it if you would attempt to read my mind, fail, get me something that's not really what I want, and cause us both a lot of grief with no real benefit." Well, they don't actually say the third one, but that's usually what they mean. I, for one, don't think it's "greedy" to know what you'd like to have, and I think it's the opposite of greed to tell people in very clear terms what that is when they ask. Therefore, let me help you read my mind:

More time
More time is always good. Anything you can do to save me time would be much appreciated.

MP3 Player
A replacement for the brand new one I bought in February and then lost a week later. Needs to accept MicroSD cards, preferably with video.

Books
Always a good, cheap choice. Some favorites I'd like to read or have in my library:

Surly Singlespeed-specific rear cog
Singlespeed cog to upgrade my singlespeed bike, 16-tooth. Yeah.

There are a few DVDs I'd like to own, though you may snicker at the choices:

Godzilla (or Gojira), in Japanese, with subtitles, and WITHOUT Raymond Burr. Again, an abomination. What is it with these Hollywood types?

Seven Samurai. There is also a "Criterion Edition" version of this out there with three DVDs. Though that would be cool, I can just about guarantee that I would never get around to watching all the extra features. Better to just have the movie and be done with it.

Klunkerz, a history of mountain biking. Great vid, would love to have it in my collection. And to have you over to watch it with me.
